New in town? We LOVE Southeast Minnesota! Especially the food.

No, it’s not all hot dish (“casserole” if you will) but most of us have a can of cream of something soup in our pantry for those days. 😉 We say, “you betcha” (though maybe not as cute as Blanche Gunderson does in the movie, New In Town) and it’s not unusual for a complete stranger to strike up a conversation at Kwik Trip while in line buying a pop, or help you when your car gets stuck in the snow. We are”Minnesota nice” probably partly because we are all in this together. Including waiting for the day that the Vikings make it to the Super Bowl (ha). We’ve been close before. Remember that one year when Anderson missed the field goal?

By the way, I don’t mean to be argumentative but it’s gray duck, not goose.

In Southeast Minnesota we enjoy and welcome the change of seasons and beautiful landscapes. The fresh clean air of spring, hiking in Whitewater, golfing in Lake City, feeding the geese at Silver Lake Park in Rochester, and boating on the Mississippi River are among our favorites. The fall season brings extraordinary beauty and some wonderful pumpkin patch tours at the local orchards. Sure, our notorious winters deserve the bad rap they get on some days, but if you like to curl up with a book, ski, snowboard, ice fish, sled, make snowmen, and drink hot chocolate you might find winter to be the prettiest season of all.

Restaurants – We love’em all, but be sure to include these local favorites to your list as you venture out for lunch. What do you crave? I have a lot more recommendations depending on where you’re at and what you’re hungry for!
